Zoom

Overview

Zoom Workplace is an AI-first, open collaboration platform that has evolved significantly from its origins as a video conferencing app. Recently, it serves as a unified workspace combining meetings, team chat, phone, whiteboard, calendar, mail, and a new AI-powered document editor (Zoom Docs). Following the major Zoomtopia 2024 and recent updates, the platform is now defined by AI Companion 2.0, which acts as a cross-platform personal assistant that can draw context from external apps like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Jira.

Features

A persistent sidebar assistant that stays with you across the app. It can perform real-time web searches (powered by Perplexity), summarize unread chats and emails, and synthesize information from previous meetings to prepare you for upcoming ones.

Launched recently for $12/month, this allows organizations to build custom AI agents. These agents can be “grounded” in company-specific data (like HR policies or internal Wikis) and connect to third-party tools via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

An AI-first modular workspace for documentation. It uses AI to turn meeting transcripts into structured project plans, wikis, or tables, allowing teams to co-edit in real-time during or after a call.

Users can now generate lifelike AI Avatars to deliver video messages. These avatars can speak multiple languages and are frequently used for personalized sales outreach or internal training without the need for manual filming.

A strategic partnership with Salesforce that integrates autonomous agents directly into Zoom meetings, allowing them to take notes, update CRM records, and trigger post-meeting workflows automatically.

Features “Proximity-based Room Detection” and “Smart Name Tags,” which use AI to identify and label participants in a physical conference room for remote viewers, ensuring equity in hybrid meetings.

Seamless integration with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud (2025), and Chrome via dedicated plugins and extensions.
